Making a Product that Retains People
The Goal
User engagement is one of the most important indicators of a product’s health. It reflects how well a product connects with its audience, encourages return usage, and builds long-term loyalty. Strong engagement leads to higher retention, increased revenue, and a clear edge over competitors. In this project, improving engagement wasn’t just a benefit—it was the core goal from the start.
My Approach
At Arti, I focused on micro-interactions and playful animations to capture attention and boost engagement. We used gamification and a fun, casual tone—similar to Duolingo—to build a stronger connection with users. This tone was especially effective in our returning messages that encouraged players to come back.
After reviewing 300+ sounds from sources like Meta Sound Kit and Kenney, I created a custom sound kit for Arti. It features 15 carefully tested sounds tailored to UI elements like the logo, buttons, alerts, toggles, and more.
Results
Our research showed that Arti achieved a strong 70% retention rate, with 7 out of 10 players returning to play again. Additionally, the share loop I designed played a key role in driving growth—40% of daily users shared their results with others, helping expand our reach organically and build a loyal community around the game.
